Lavaliere, Pendants, Bead, Faux Pearl, Chains Necklace's

The list for vintage necklace types is long and too numerous to mention here. What was popular in the 1890s and early 1900s were Lavaliere types, always referred to as a fancy type pendant that through which a chain or neck rope could be strung or hooked to. The pendant incorporated pearls into the pendant or a single drop pearl. We mis-use the word and now it is often used to refer to a dainty ornate necklace and pendant. "Sautoir" or rope types were long and usually over half the length of body. They could be metal, beads, or other decorative material such as shell or just woven cloth. Choker type were to fit snug around the neck, usually 12" to 14" in length and most are adjustable. A Dog Collar was just a wide type of choker worn above the collarbone and snug around the neck.

Item: D-692 "Denbe" Lovely Fancy Rhinestone Necklace
A master piece in art in this Denbe rhinestone necklace by J. J. Denberg, of New York, NY.,. Lovely tapered baguette, 1/2 moon, square, baguette and round brilliant rhinestone set in a rhodium plate metal that is in excellent condition. The sets are prong mounted and in good condition, the necklace has a hook clasp with the extension having baguette and tapered baguette sets. Pave set rhinestone in the center ornamental part on each end with a square to finish of the hook side and tapered baguette on the extension side. Adjustable from 13" to 15".

The necklace is from the 1930s, with a victorian revival style done in the 1930s. The multi-color links contain a faceted plastic insert, the copper clad on the neck chain has some wear spots that can be expected for this age of necklace. The links in the necklace are a black and gray with shades of pinkish gray, a very lovely necklace for the time period and very wearable.

Item: C-2633 Rare "Eugene" Crystal & Glass Necklace
The necklace is made by Eugene, a 1940s designer for Miriam Haskell. After leaving Haskell in 1949 he started designing jewelry under his own signature. His work is not often found and the production was minimal, he was only in business from 1949 to late 1959. What a very lovely and refreshing work of art he produced in the costume jewelry industry. The necklace has a decorative push type spade clasp in good working condition.

Item: C-2635 1910 to 1920s Gold Lavaliere Necklace
The lavaliere necklace is from 1910 to 1920 with the pendant being 10k yellow gold tested and marked on the inside of the bail loop, it comes on a 14k yellow gold neck chain signed on the spring ring clasp and on the link finding. There are two baroque fresh water pearls and a synthetic man made ruby, The neck chain is marked on the hook link A & Z 14K and on the 3/4 spring ring clasp 14K. The pendant is marked on the inside of bail loop 10K. Condition is very good.

Well made and attractive multi colored glass bead and rhinestone flower pendant. The flower is cast gold plate metal on 3/16" wide heavy chain with fancy curb large serpentine type links, often found on older quality jewelry. The rhinestones are clear and aqua blue on flower and the stamens are topped off with glass beads.

The necklace is morpho butterfly wing done on cloth under reverse painted lucite. The scene is a desert cactus with mountains in the background. The necklace has a 15" silver tone neck chain. The lavaliere type necklace is signed "Czechoslova" on soldered jump ring hook end of clasp. A lovely color mixture of lavender and purple glass beads with large faceted set. There are 6 royal amethyst colored un-foiled leaded faceted sets in filigree gold gilt brass settings. Condition is very good and showing only minor wear on the jump rings plating.

Item: C-249 1920s Blue Set Faux Pearl Lavaliere Necklace

The necklace is from 1910 to 1920s and is a Lavaliere necklace. This is a good example of early costume jewelry. The chain is of fancy solid links, chased design on links with ball type spacer links. Done in 14k H.R.G.P. with original clasp and delicate small pendant with Lavaliere drop, complete with small clear rhinestones of old style in fine condition with faux baroque pearls and large blue un-foiled glass set and one small set. The large set is over 3/4" x 5/8" with small set of 3/16" x 1/4", and sixteen small rhinestones with 6 faux baroque pearls of which one should be replaced. The over all length of chain is 14 1/2", a very realistic necklace.
