The CORO jewelry company started doing business about 1900. It was the largest of all costume jewelry manufactures, and marked the jewelry in many different names. The list is too long to publish here but the top of their line was Coro Craft with Coro in script and with the Pegasus emblem in block or out side of block. Later the top of the line would become Vendome, and they could compete with some of the most famous manufactures of costume jewelry. Adolf Katz was the leader or head of the company and had many designer's doing work for Coro. They became famous for duettes, tremblers, door knocker and crown pins they produced. The Coro company went out of business in 1979 after 80 years of making costume jewelry.

The Coro bow pin has faux pearl and brilliant round rhinestone, all metal is in very good condition. The sets have lots of sparkle, the faux pearl are all in execellent condition, it has a 3/4 circle safety clasp. This pin looks like real fine jewelry, the only wear is on the pin shank shaft.

The Coro pin is signed on the back with a Pegasus and Coro on pin body and Coro on the clasp. The two tier pin has lovely green and crystal rhinestone, some refer to these as cake pins not the weddig cake pins. The term wedding cake pin was named by one of the modern authors of a rhinestone jewelry book and everybody started using the term on pins made in a layered construction.

The Coro pin is signed and has Des., Pat., Pend., on the back. The patent was filed on July 15 1948 by Adolph Katz, the patent was granted on November 30 1948 and the number Des, 151,890 was issued for it. The pin has red and crystal rhinestone set in a gold tone metal, all metal and rhinestone are very good for this 60+ year old pin. The only thing I can see is under magnification is some very slight checkering on the back, all gold is there with no loss. It has a 3/4 circle safety clasp.

Coro's little Dutch boy with tulip pin, done in gold over base metal, crystal rhinestone head dress and red rhinestone face and tulip. The pin has a open C clasp, all gold plate finish is good and all rhinestone have lots of brilliance.

The 1940s Coro red rhinestone turtle pin has crystal rhinestone in the legs and eyes, it is signed Coro with Des., Pat., Pend. on the back. It is done in a silver tone metal, some of the red rhinestone have been replaced in the back, the crystal and the red navette in the head are original. This is the only Coro turtle in this design that we have seen. It has a 3/4 circle safety clasp

Item No: C-4014 1944 Coro Craft Sterling Vermeil Hyacinth Flower Brooch Pin
The brooch is sterling silver with a gold finish. Blue and crystal rhinestones in a lovely rose 14 karat gold vermeil finish. Designed under Adolph Katz in January of 1944, a design patent was granted on February 22, 1944 with Des., Pat., 137,351. The center top set socket has been replaced and some of the crystal rhinestones have been replaced with all the blue being original. There are a couple of spots on the back of pin to the gold vermeil but they are not seen when wearing the lovely vintage brooch. This is a book piece of collectible fashion jewelry.
