The CORO jewelry company started doing business about 1900. It was the largest of all costume jewelry manufactures, and marked the jewelry in many different names. The list is too long to publish here but the top of their line was Coro Craft with Coro in script and with the Pegasus emblem in block or out side of block. Later the top of the line would become Vendome, and they could compete with some of the most famous manufactures of costume jewelry. Adolf Katz was the leader or head of the company and had many designer's doing work for Coro. They became famous for duettes, tremblers, door knocker and crown pins they produced. The Coro company went out of business in 1979 after 80 years of making costume jewelry.

The Coro pin is signed Coro and "Des Pat Pend", it is from the 1950s. The pin is cast white metal with only the center flower head rivet-ed to the chromium plate body. All crystal rhinestone and metal are in excellent condition. It has a 3/4 circle safety clasp.

Item No: C-5552 Coro Dutch Boy with Tulip Pin
Coro's little Dutch boy with tulip pin, done in gold over base metal, crystal rhinestone head dress and red rhinestone face and tulip. The pin has a open C clasp, all gold plate finish is good and all rhinestone have lots of brilliance.

The 1940s Coro red rhinestone turtle pin has crystal rhinestone in the legs and eyes, it is signed Coro with Des., Pat., Pend. on the back. It is done in a silver tone metal, some of the red rhinestone have been replaced in the back, the crystal and the red navette in the head are original. This is the only Coro turtle in this design that we have seen. It has a 3/4 circle safety clasp

Item No: C-4014 1944 Coro Craft Sterling Vermeil Hyacinth Flower Brooch Pin
The brooch is sterling silver with a gold finish. Blue and crystal rhinestones in a lovely rose 14 karat gold vermeil finish. Designed under Adolph Katz in January of 1944, a design patent was granted on February 22, 1944 with Des., Pat., 137,351. The center top set socket has been replaced and some of the crystal rhinestones have been replaced with all the blue being original. There are a couple of spots on the back of pin to the gold vermeil but they are not seen when wearing the lovely vintage brooch. This is a book piece of collectible fashion jewelry.

The Large Coro pin is gold plate over sterling with a 5/8" x 7/8" large blue un foiled set. The pin shows no wear and the scanner will not show the true condition of the brooch.

The brooch is signed "Vendome" in script, done in a rhodium plate metal with crystal rhinestones and fancy cut leaded and faceted round sets, quite unusal sets. Much more pretty than the picture shows. All sets sparkle good. Item No: C-6040  1941 Coro Rhinestone Cockatoo Fur Clip
The Coro fur clip was designed by Gene Verrecchio for Coro under Adolph Katz in 1941. The cockatoo has a red rhinestone eye with crystal rhinestone body, yellow enamel beak and claws with a green vain in each leaf. This is the large one and measures 1 3/4" Wide x 5 1/4" Tall. Most all the other cockatoo clips were 3 and 1/4" long. This particular pin is scarce to find, The rohdium plate metal is in very good condition with a few of the sets showing their age. They would not be noticed when wearing. Another View.
