Cameo jewelry has been popular for ages, made from shell, lava rock, hard stone and all most any material. Intricate hand carved with fine detail being the most desirable of almost any natural material. Settings have less value than the cameo they hold. The carvers patience and workmanship was the final single most important factor, with some value being placed on the subject of the carving on the Cameo. The hand carved from the past are much more valuable than the laser carved of the present.

Item No: D-1001 Victorian 22K Gold and Coral Cameo Brooch Pin
Description: The hand carved coral cameo brooch pin is in a 22K fine gold setting, the cameo is carved in a high relief, almost 1/4" at high point. The color is white with a pink flush captured by the carver. Fine detail work done on the ladies hair, flowers, and the dove on her breast. There is nice under cutting on the flowers and hair ornaments. There are no cracks or blemishes in the cameo. It has the T bar pin with the safety closure.

Item No: D-726 10K Rebecca Shell Cameo Brooch Pin or Pendant
Description: Rebecca hand carved shell cameo set in 10K gold, there are no cracks or chips. The natural flaws were left in the shell and the carver worked around them as if to give some character to the cameo. The pin has a C clasp with a lift up safety lever catch and a swing up loop to use it as a pendant. There is reposse work of a ornate design done on the flange of the cameo setting.

Description: The hand carved shell cameo is mounted in a gold filled pendant that the top leaves have pink gold in them. The chain is in very good condition as is the pendant. The only wear on this set is a small spot on the back side of the pendant setting. It is a lovely necklace.
Material: 1/20th 12 karat Gold Filled setting, and shell plate metal and shell.

Description: Hand carved helmet crab shell cameo applied to abalone shell. Mounted in gold plate pendant setting. The cameo must have been some ones favorite, the back ground must have cracked or been broken at one time and they had the ladies bust applied to a abalone shell background. There is no wear on the metal base and it is gold plate.

Description: Hand carved gray back ground, bezel set cameo. The pin is gold washed metal with some wear on the plated metal, looks natural as it gives a silver and gold mixed look. The pin is old and most likely from the early 1930s.

Applied Onyx Cameo
 
 The early 1900 vintage cameo is polished onyx with applied women's bust of onyx, in mourning piece of jewelry, plated in gold with old clasp on chain and flat Trace links. Very fine detail on cameo right down to beaded necklace and earrings the women is wearing and top of garment. The cameo is bezel set and gold is in very good condition. Circulated early 20th century and in very good condition.

  A molded celluloid cameo of the greek goddess Athena, mounted in a gold plate frame with open C clasp, Circa: early 1900s. The frame measures 1 1/4" x 1 5/8 with cameo being 1" x 1 3/8". The condition is very good with no wear on metal or cameo.

Item No: C-4021 Early 1900s Hand Carved Shell Cameo Brooch Pin
Description: A nice size hand carved shell cameo brooch. The setting for the cameo is a gold wash over silver metal, there is some wear on the very top and bottom side of the bezel to the gold wash but it will not detract from this very nice filligree metal setting brooch. The brooch  pin has a early type of safety catch, with the two stop tabs on 3/4 circle clasp. it closes on lifting the tab and opens on the downward movement.  Here is a link to a little brighter large view.

The ring is a green background and has onyx bust of roman warrior, the cameo is under cut from the green back ground. There is one very minor chip on lower left corner of the warrior if viewed with a 10 power loupe you can see it. Good detail and engraving on the gold ring with each wide prong setting containing a daisy, all most a bezel type set.

Description: 6 Hand carved Shell cameo's, mounted in gold filled frames with safety chain. The safety chain its self has been replaced, all cameos mounts are in good condition. This bracelet was purchased at estate sale in a box marked Hobe' but the bracelet its self is marked "Van Dell" on the clasp ring along with the gold markings. The cameos are carved depicting castles, cottages and ocean with sailboat scenes.

Description: Hand carved shell cameo from Florenza, four small faux pearls mounted in gold plate base metal. The only wear is very small spot on one prong tip. The cameo is set in 14k rose gold, with a collet set semi-transparent white on black banded onyx cameo  ring. There is one small chip in the black background just to the left of the bottom curl on the hairdo. It is solid and and is not visiable with the naked eye.   .

 The cameo pin is from the 1920s or early 30s and depicts a pagoda in the scenery. The pin has a fold down ring for use as a pendant or ball safety pin catch for clasp as a pin. Carved in shell with some depth it is typical from the times. 14 kt gold wash frame that serves as pin or pendant. The pin measures 1 5/8" x 1 7/8". Condition is very good.
